Costs: (per weekly lesson billed per term)

Individual (including Skype) lessons

30 minutes: $45

45 minutes: $70

60 minutes: $90

I teach a range of lesson options from individual to group and also offer individual lessons via Skype.

Lessons are weekly and run concurrant with the school term (unless by prior arrangement). They are billed by the term.

Mastering just one tune on any instrument takes time and commitment over a series of lessons and guided practice. For that reason, I do not teach casual/ one-off or ad-hoc lessons.

Students are welcome to join at any time during the year.

For 2020, lesson dates are as follows:

Term 1: Tuesday 28th January to Thursday 9th April.

Term 2: Monday 27th April to Friday 3rd July.

Term 3: Monday 20th July to Friday 25th September.

Term 4: Monday 12th October to Friday 18th December.

All public holidays are observed.

Individual or Group Guitar & Ukulele lessons run for 30, 45 or 60 minutes.  Group Lessons are available for 2 or 3 students per group. This is a great solution for families with multiple members who wish to learn, as well as parents, grandparents or caregivers who may want to learn with their children.

For Group Lesson costs, please contact me directly for pricing

Skype is a great way of teaching long distance: from two or three suburbs to two or three countries away! Can’t get there every week? This is the option for you! Presently I offer Skype Guitar & Ukulele Lessons for individuals only.

Will you travel to my house? Yes, but it’s at an extra cost and subject to availability. I have to factor in the lesson, time travelling to and from your house. (This is teaching time I can’t teach!) as well as fuel costs.

Terms and Conditions

These terms of service are effective as of 1st January 2020 and supersedes all previous versions. Please keep them in a convenient location for your reference.

If any of these terms of service are not acceptable, please do not hire me for your music lessons.

 1.     Lesson etiquette

1.1.    Please try and arrive on time for your lessons. Knock remove your shoes and wait in the lounge.

1.2.    Lessons start from the time scheduled, so if you are late, this means a shorter lesson in fairness to those coming after you.

1.3.    It is expected that students will bring their instruments, books, and any current material being worked upon every week.

1.4.    It is understood that by committing to music lessons, you are also committing to study and homework- at least 30 minutes a day 5 times a week, and doing the homework given by the teacher.

1.5.    All lessons operate on the basis of mutual respect. Abuse, swearing, hostility or threatening and negative behavior by students, parents, or caregivers will not be tolerated and lessons will be cancelled without refund.

1.6.    In the spirit of a music-based partnership, teacher and student will maintain open communication with each other and avoid withholding useful and good to know information from each other.

1.7.    Adult students will notify me of any issues that are impacting or may impact on their ability to study and practice in between lessons.

1.8.    Parents will alert me to any issues that are concerning them about their child’s practices between lessons.

1.9.    I will alert parents of any issues that may arise with their child within lessons.

1.10. I often recommend books to work from and in time it may be necessary for you to acquire some of these books for study. In these cases, I will provide the first few pages and let you know a few weeks beforehand when a textbook is required.  This is usually- but not always- one or two books per year. Not always: means students who might progress at a greater rate.

1.11. If you require personal service that requires preparation outside of lesson times, you will be advised of likely cost and your authority sought before commencing such work.

 2.     Invoicing

2.1. Invoices are issued before the start of each term and are to be paid before the first lesson of the term, by the due date.

2.2. Due date means within 7 days of the date of issue shown on the invoice, by direct credit. I do not operate a cash handling facility.

2.3. Unless by prior arrangement, invoices not paid prior to lessons commencing for the term, may result in lessons being postponed until payment is made.

 3.     Attendance

3.1. If you are unable to attend a class for sickness or another reason 24 hour’s notice must be given. Catch-ups, due to a missed lesson are not guaranteed, and credits are not automatic.

3.2. A lesson will be charged for when I am unaware a student will not be coming, or I am advised with minimal notice (compelling circumstances notwithstanding).

3.3. If a student misses two consecutive lessons without contact, it will be assumed that they are giving up lessons, and that space will be opened up for another student.

3.4. For such events such as a holiday, students and/ or parents are encouraged to advise at the earliest possible convenience.

3.5. If a student is sick enough to be off school, university or work on the day of their lesson, please do not attend the lesson and risk infecting others. Rather inform me at the earliest opportunity. In addition, please heed your doctor’s advice in regard to any contagious timeframes and apply this to your music lessons as well as school or work. Missed lessons for these purposes fall under compelling circumstances. I don’t want it!

 4.     Recording Lessons

4.1. From time to time photographs and/ or video may be taken. This may include full body shots and / or hand position close-ups.

Lessons are recorded for confirmation of concepts and techniques being taught, and for internal teacher self-monitoring purposes to ensure teacher performance standard. These records remain private to Epsom Guitar and Ukulele Lessons: Nick Cebalo- Guitar and Ukulele Teacher and may be requested- when recorded- by parents at any time at no cost.

Any video information published in any Epsom Guitar and Ukulele Lessons: Nick Cebalo publication will be edited to show only hands and guitar fingerboard while excluding any facial identification to ensure student privacy is maintained.

 5.     Exams and Performances

5.1. Students are encouraged to sit exams through a recognized examination body- although this is not compulsory. It is an excellent way of measuring progress as well as developing planning and project management skills. There are several opportunities throughout the year.

5.2. There are also music performance opportunities during the year. I encourage all students to participate.
